Coach Monique Calvello
Coach Calvello was born and raised in San Francisco and
attended St. Paul’s Elementary School. She
then went on to attend Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and played four years
of Varsity Basketball as a Starter and Captain.
Monique helped lead her team to four consecutive WCAL and CCS
championships. Most notably, Monique was
a member of the back-to-back State Championship team, and upon graduating in 2007,
her basketball team was ranked #4 in the nation. Also notable, Monique was a three-sport
(volleyball, basketball, track) varsity athlete for three of her four years at
SHC.
Coach Calvello went on to play for City College of San Francisco, helping lead her team to an Elite Eight appearance in the 2009 State Tournament. After CCSF, she earned a basketball scholarship to Menlo College. During her senior year at Menlo, Monique was awarded 2011’s Newcomer of the Year, and First-Team All Conference for the CAL PAC Conference. Coach Calvello received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2011, and is currently a Sports Science graduate student at the United States Sports Academy. She has been coaching 5 - 8th grade AAU girls’ basketball for nine years. In 2014, she returned to CCSF where she stepped into her position as First Assistant for the Lady Rams basketball program.
